Kobukan Karate Club was founded in Windsor in 1973 by Kyoshi Roger Carpenter, 8th Dan, Chief Instructor of SKKIF. Over the past 30 years Kyoshi Carpenter has taught traditional Shotokan karate to many hundreds of students in the Windsor area, many of whom have progressed to 1st Dan black belt and beyond. Kyoshi Carpenter oversees the SKKIF organisation in the UK and visits each club twice yearly to ensure consistency of training and to maintain appropriate standards within each club.

Sensei Clive Young set up the Greenford Karate Club (Fudokai) in 1981 and instructed there until 1986. He is now joint Chief Instructor at Kobukan together with Sensei Anne-Marie Box.

Kobukan welcomes all students from 13 years upwards and believes that anyone can practice karate and benefit from its unique approach to fitness, co-ordination, flexibility and self-defence. Karate is particularly beneficial to children and young people in helping to improve concentration and build confidence. Sensei Anne-Marie Box has a wealth of experience in teaching children and ran a popular children’s class for many years.
